perhaps i've watched crap all day, i don't know, but finally something i genuinely liked! the animation went smoothly with the music, as though the two were designed for one another (although one was designed to the other). the abiance was set perfect to the mood of what was happening, the lighting was nealy perfect in the areas where it was needed, and although you used simple lines and shapes, you allowed everything to have depth and shape (a step up from the first asylum).
although all this is true, there did arise a problem from you using stickfigures to convey the story. they all looked alike. normally that isn't a proble, but in the complex story you were telling, without the use of voice, and no clothing or facial differences, i found my self unable to recognize the characters i was seeing, both times i watched the movie. you do several changes of veiws, flashbacks, foreshadowings, and other such tools to tell a great story, the problem being, i couldn't recognize any of the protagonists from anyone else, until the end. in the end only on character was being "followed" at that point i was able to recognize "him" amongst the crowd, the character the direction was focused around.

normally i don't like stick movies,
but this i liked

lacking in movement...

not a bad short. the concept was displayed clearly and easily, characters displayed their thoughts and actions: yet still there was a need which i feel you were lacking in. you seem to have completely dodged the area of "good" animation. yes you do have your characters move, and it dose show what you where looking for, but they didn't move well. they were just single images moving up and or down. all i mean to say on this subject, is that better movement with perhaps walking cycles, would have made the movie look better. on another note, your bg, was kinda' empty. it was no more than a two dimentional nothing. a bit of green on the bottom, some blue on top, and a couple of grey rectangles. i looked at you other work, and saw that, if you wanted, you could have made a much better movie.

good concept
made me laugh (if only on the inside)
best of luck

p.s. i think zombies move so slow because of rigor mortis.

i liked it but...

yeah, this was basically good. it had humor, decently close voice acting, stiff animation though, yet it still told it's story. the lip synching was okay, the real problem came with the backgrounds. they were all muddy and badly done. with better backgrounds this movie would be much better. as well, so that you can get better movements and make the story more interesting, i would advise you to break the characters into even more pieces, so that they have elbows knees ect, or to draw action sequences in fbf.

good movie, although it could be better

i'm confused

the movie wasn't bad... it just didn't make much sense. in the begining it was the worst as far as understanding. there it was choppy first off, and secondly, your direction was simply weird... but i believe thats what you were going for so i'll leave that alone. what was upsetting was that it seemed the quaility of the film was somewhat mediocre. it was very hard to see what was happening, and i'm not talking about the staticy tv thing. the entire film was somewhat "gritty", which may have been what you were going for yet it obscured the animation you made. as well the sound quaility at the end was simply not up to par with what you needed in my opinion. you were expressing a climax of a story all in sound, yet the sound wasn't clear enough, nor iconic nough to be understood as easily as it should have been. as well as a veiwer it had me confused as to why there were gun sounds. if you had shown the protagonist with a gun it would have made that scene more accessible and more suspence making. in a final note i beleive pehaps you should increase the frame rate, it was very choppy.

still, best of luck on your work and future submissions

ATOMICCLOUD responds:

Thanks for the review, you must have put ALOT of thought into it. The quality must have been wrecked by movie-maker compresion. Otherwise, thanks. Another thing was that if i had animated the guns being fired, i would have to loop it alot. I tried to keep it close to the original comic.

if i weren't a fan of madness...

if i weren't the type who likes grotesque and useless violence, this movie would be kinda' bad. the animation was there (thumbs up) but the animation was generally choppy. the characters moved with very jittery movements, and as far as stick-figures go, they should have moved much smoother. as well the camera angles are a bit common, linear if you will, creating not much in tearms of dynamic angles. even the god powers, although cool.. ish... seemed to almost be a way for you to cut down on having to animate movements.

i hope you've gotten better since being the innocent 10th grader you were
and it is better than some,

best of luck

i only liked the emo part

there wasn't very much here... not much at all... there was virtually no animated actions, mostly still images and most of the voices were unintelligable. the one good part was the "emo corner". that was funny. that part was unexpected, good in idea, and it was simply laughable.

it wasn't much to my taste, but who am i?

i liked the way it flowed.

this was short, and involved too few colors, but other wise, this was okay. i got the whole feeling the music aspect of the movie. my problem was that it ended ubruptly, and that the colors didn't change with the tone and tempo. in my opinion, this movie should have had different types of lines per sound and harder lines of "angrier" coloring to emphisize the type of music. either way this is a good movie. too simple but it's good.

you should have made it more detailed
best of luck

i apologize but i couldn't finish this

i found your lip syching was great. the synching had to have taken a long time and a great deal of patience to do, yet other than that, your movie wasn't very good. perhaps i am being harsh, and for that i do apologize, yet your art/ animation was bad.
your character design, to start with wasn't very good. the character out lines, and inner lines were much too thick. as well there was very little expression, or detail. i would advise you to utilize many more shadows and create more expressive facial designs. as well you should simply add expressions. you would be amazed how often through simple conversation one's face changes. by saying something one dislikes, the face tends to express anger, and adversly, fear or sadness for something they feel distain over. by doing that you will find your characters already have more life and character.
next i beleive you should either look into trying fbf animation, or clean up your tween style greatly. the shoulders on the two nerd character had no upper portion. there was no outline on certain areas and it was visable onto the background. as well, at one point the heavier set geek's thigh area was inside of his stomach when he was hunched over. by using fbf (frame by frame) you tend to put more emphisis into not having areas of minor mistakes. there are also ways of making cleaner tweening animations but they tend not to look as nice as fbf.
now finally, your voice acting wasn't very good. your movie seemed to be greatly base on dialouge, so for that reason, i bleive you should have spent more time on cleaning up your voices. many areas were not understandable to me. you should work on either speaking clearer, or making the voices louder, and clearing out the distortion.

i think you may have good concepts, but your animation hurts your ideas a lot.

i'm sorry if my grading hurt your animation
i truly do wish you the best of luck
and if you feel offended i was simply offering areas of needed improvement
any way

good luck

i don't take offense to this movie.

i'm not the type of person to take offense from movies. thats not why i find this movie crappy. no this movie is crappy because it is. it is baddly animated, and most of the movie are nothing more than a photograph with a looping background. some only had looping background music.
i think that if your going to try and offend people, do it in style. there was nothing good about this movie. it wouldn't be upsetting if the distasteful topic was animated well or made fun or creative but this simply was shitty.

all i want is a better set of movies, is that wrong of me to ask for?

LordZeebmork responds:

Yes, it is wrong. Go back to your fucking Mario shit.

short, to it's own benifit

4/5
the movies animation wasn't great, but the concept was enough to pull this flash along. the animation of the arms could have been better, and the face more detailed, but the movie was alright. it the movie had been longer, following the same amount of crappy animation, the movie would have been bad, but being as it was so short, the bad animation didn't really get annoying. my advice would be to make longer animations, but begin doing fbf animation. if you keep the same humor though, there really are few boundries you can't break- and all that good shit

nice work
i have the same feelings at the holidays
